Alright then. I will ask if I feel it is something I need. But what I need, Vincent, is the chance to know you as you are now. What you wish from the world, how you want to see it, what you want to know. it all matters.

[Vincent makes a soft sound, a singular scoff of a laugh.]

I do think it's only fitting to do some good with the- with what I've become. Perhaps help to right some of the wrongs that Shinra did. I enjoy helping people, whether they're aware of my intervention or not.

But it's difficult sometimes to even believe I belong here anymore.

You know that this is where I'd offer work with the WRO to you, given our entire purpose is trying to write the wrongs of Shinra an balance out the world again.

[Of course he doesn't want this date to turn into a job pitch, so he won't say more than that.]

[A simple answer but not a dismissive one, having some direction would likely do him a world of good.]

Amusing, how I've somehow let what should be me pitching myself to you into pitching a job. This is why I can't get dates I expect.

[The corner of his mouth twitches up faintly, a large rueful smile in Vincent's world.]

Just you? It sounds a bit like the Turks. [It's meant as a light jab.] I guess I'd have to start calling you 'boss'? Or 'sir'?

[Honestly, he doesn't think it has anything to do with the drink but he's relaxed and smiling(ish), so the date, in his opinion was going pretty well. He shrugs a little.]

No, not the Turks. I just... I thought that you would trust someone more if you knew that you trusted their opinion and they would make sure you were not finding them abusing their authority over you.

[Vincent had been burned by Shinra, so it was important to help the man as much as he could.]

You wouldn’t have to call me either of those. I would prefer Reeve. Better not to get things confused if we’re also being, you know, involved.

True. You, more than anyone else affiliated with Shinra, have my trust.

[Reeve was a good man with a goal Vincent not only agreed with but was keen to see accomplished. Certainly, good reasons to become associates once again.]

Mm, confusion, we wouldn't want that, no.

[He nods thoughtfully.] 'Involved'... It still sounds a little surreal.

[Does it? Reeve chuckles and shakes his head.]

If it is surreal to be at your side, then I am glad for it.

You don't think so?

Maybe it's... [He pauses to think about it for a moment, trying to pinpoint what it is about this that seems a little surreal.] Where we've come from. How long we've known one another.

[He glances between their drinks and over toward the waiter.]

Would you like to go? Back to yours maybe?

[Go? Hardly. The waiter is just arriving with Reeve's food. It would be rude to leave now. He thanks them politely and returns his attention to Vincent.]

Perhaps once I've eaten, if that's alright. I don't really have food at home to go for if I am hungry. Yes yes, I understand that I should be judged for this oversight, but I'm often busy.

[He takes a bit before going back to the other thing that had been said.]

It is said that going through a traumatic event together can forge strong bonds and connections. Though it's arguable whether I was involved in the traumatic events with the rest of you.

Sorry... I'd almost forgotten you'd ordered something.

[And by almost, he means it definitely had slipped his mind.]

Mm. You were there. You know what happened. I would say that counts as much as any of us. [Even if maybe Reeve hadn't been directly in as much danger as the rest of them, he'd still been there and he had the added stress of trying to keep his act going on both sides.]

I'd never really thought about it as traumatic before...

[Oh, Reeve had been in his own danger. AFter all, there had been Meteor and Midgar to deal with, and he had been there. And he'd had a 'rest' the whole while with the jail time.]

The world was ending, Vincent. Even Turks dont' deal with that regularly.

I guess I compartmentalize. I was very focused on one thing in particular. Most things outside of that didn't matter at the time.

[By the end of the whole thing, he'd cared. Deeply. But it hadn't started out that way.]

[Which, Reeve supposed, was a useful and interesting thing to think about.]

And what was that one thing? Me? I might be flattered.

[If he were so inclined, he might chuckle softly right about now. Instead, Reeve gets something very close to a soft smile.] I was unaware of you until you revealed yourself.

I... I wish that had been my focus. But, no, unfortunately it was Hojo. I... I wanted revenge.

[Well, Reeve knew it wasn't him, but he did listen intently. And nodded.]

Something I well understand. I was torn over a lot of things at first, but working against Hojo and all his vileness was absolutely a motivating factor. The people he hurt, the people Shinra hurt...

[The people REEVE hurt by working with them.]
