"There's a difference between not being old, and feeling young," he laughs as he finally pulls himself form Rufus and moves to lay next to him. Almost immediately he'd curling against his lover's body.

"I'm middle aged and I know that. I'm referring to how you make me feel a bit like how I was in college. I haven't had a hunger for a man like this since then."

"Are you saying you feel old when you're not busy ravaging me?" Reeve won't get a great deal of space to curl, the blond busy shifting to partly drape over him, reversing who is crushing who. "Because I would have trouble believing such a thing.ç

"Older than I feel when I am busy ravaging you," he smirked. Stop twisting his words, Rufus. He's being quite plain here.

He doesn't have a problem with being the one pinned, though. The comfort of Rufus's weight is important to him. Especially with the darker conversation that had preceded this. Rufus, going after Jenova. He can't approve, but he can't act against it either.

Rufus likes twisting words, especially with Reeve. Aside from Tseng, he is the only person Rufus knows who puts up with it and can logically respond. And by this time, it's become a sort of flirtation, at least on Rufus' part.

"Well... glad to know I'm useful." The grin on his face indicates he is joking, even as he leans down to kiss Reeve softly.

"You're the sun in my skies," he whispers after the kiss ends.

It's honest. It's deep and it's honest and it's not twisting words for Reeve. It's an admission he's been avoiding. But right now, with the foolishness that Rufus is going to go through with? He had to say it.

His arm wraps around Rufus's middle and pulls him close.

"I love you," he says into Rufus's hair.

What a corny line. It makes Rufus laugh a little, and he lets Reeve pull him down close, the laugh disappearing when he hears, even as quietly as it's said, what the older man says, and stills.

If there is one thing Rufus can become awkward over, it's words like this... he is loyal so far as relationships go, because he wants the same from who he is with, and he does like Reeve quite some bit - wouldn't be as near as honest as he has been on personal issues if he didn't, even with wanting to earn the man's trust - but love? Is he even actually capable of it? And does Reeve expect a response?

"Don't freeze. I don't expect a response. I just want you to know," Reeve assured him, pressing a kiss against his head. "But I've lost people I cared about without letting them know how I feel."

His heart belongs to Rufus. And it's going to get him hurt. He already knows that. But when has he ever fallen for a man that he wouldn't get hurt over?

"Maybe you don't, but," Rufus lifts himself enough to look at Reeve seriously. "But it would seem like bad manners not to respond."

"Fine. If you wish to show good manners, just say that you hear me. That at the very least my voice is there. That matters to me, knowing I've been heard for once."

With that he snuggled against Rufus's neck, more than ready to just doze off this close to his partner.

"Of course I hear you." He huffs a little. "I wouldn't have said anything, or reacted, if I didn't."

"Then we're good," Reeve chuckled, leaving another kiss in his hair. "But this thing you've decided to do? It could get you hurt. Or dead. I don't know. And I don't want to lose you without having said it."

Please allow him that. He didn't mean to make it awkward.

"I'm aware of the potential for something to go wrong." Rufus settles down beside Reeve, scratching his chest gently in a way that he hopes is more comforting than stimulating. "Still, it's logically the best step. Less logically, Weapon didn't kill me, so this won't either."

"The WEAPON wasn't aiming at killing you, Rufus. It was aiming at the city. I fear for what happens when the target is on you," Reeve countered, and yes, there is actual concern in his voice. Reeve did less wrong and he'd had a few attempts on him at this point.

"I'm less worried for myself than the Turks to be honest, though." Rufus is careful that his voice does not sound dismissive, just ever logical; though a slight falter indicates the words are very real. "They are the ones who have to enter the crater."

"I worry about them too," Reeve sighs. Considers it for a long moment.

"I could give you materia to use for them."

Without Shinra's reactors specifically creating them, new Materia only comes from fountains or mastering.

"They have some, but it might not be a bad idea to see if there is any you own that they may be able to use."

"I should have some options," Reeve admitted. A rather substantial amount of it actually. Years of working on them because he needed an outlet and as self-defense.

Rufus merely nods, before shifting so that he and Reeve are as close as they can be, fingers dancing gently over the other man's neck as he speaks. "You can discuss it with Tseng. For now, however, let's take advantage of our time."

"We haven't already?" Reeve asks, smiling for his young lover. Still, he can't argue against how close they are at the moment. "I feel like two rounds in an hour is awesome.

"I didn't mean another round." He chuckles a little. "But we can lie here enjoying ourselves, and debate how many times to tell Reno we went about it this time."

"As many as you want," Reeve smiles, nuzzling against his lover's neck. Wonderful. He hums as he starts to kiss the man lightly. "I'm sorry I tease him so much."

Rufus chuckles at the kissing, stroking Reeve's hair gently. "He brings it on himself by continually asking, so I wouldn't feel too bad."

"Sometimes I am left wondering why he's so focused on our sexual relationship," Reeve says thoughtfully, his arms around Rufus as he hums into the man's hair. What a lovely partner to be close to.

"Boredom." Rufus replies, shifting to get himself more comfortable. "He's got no one to flirt with, and he is just as bad as the stereotype about girls and gossip."

"He's not with Rude?" Reeve asks, a bit shocked. That... wasn't what he was expecting. He thought the two of them were rather closely connected. Goes to show he'd missed that one by a bit.
