"I don't know if you'd believe it, but Reno and Rude were happy to see anyone survive the building's collapse." Rufus shifts to snuggle into Reeve a little, stretching out as he does. "They knew a lot of people there. I honestly may have been happier, if I wasn't half-dead. Naturally, Tseng probably was and Elena was too new to know many people.

"But those idiots, well, the people and this small little clock? It's really all they needed to keep going."

"As did I," Reeve agreed, and he was happier to know that. But he didn't care about that right now. What he cared about was wrapping himself around Rufus, holding him. He's warm there. He had missed having someone in his arms. "So many died. It was terrible."

"It was a miscalculation on my part." He admits it, though he probably shouldn't, shifting to a comfortable position with his head on the pillow. Maybe close enough to feel Reeve, but not enough to actually touch. "I honestly didn't expect the Weapon would have a chance to attack the building."

“I understood why you did it. At the time, because of the potential danger it presented, I was more concerned with the how you did it,” Reeve admitted. Whether Rufus was intending to or not, and now Reeve thought it was intent, Rufus had saved people’s lives. However this position will not do. Reeve wraps an arm around the younger man and drags him closer. He wants to be closer.

It was intentional. Real empathy, false empathy, he at least knew something had to be done about the Weapons, and he didn't have much faith in Cloud and his. Nine people, with only their will, taking down some of the strongest protection the Planet could offer? It didn't make any sense, logically. Didn't seem they could win.

But it was them who had done it, and all the power in the world had failed. It certainly put things into perspective.

He won't worry about it now, though, instead letting himself enjoy being pulled in and enjoying the warmth this position brings. He even makes a content sound.

Content sound? Well, Reeve holds him a little closer and maybe worms one leg in with Rufus's to tangle up just a bit. Forgive him, he was an affectionate man in many ways.

And Rufus was... far more than Reeve had ever given him credit for.

The leg may earn the barest of chuckles, but Rufus doesn't seem to object or try to stop Reeve. He doesn't get this much, so he's going to enjoy it, just in case Reeve quickly changes his mind.

"Good night, Reeve."

"Good night," Reeve agrees, and relatively soon he's managed to fall asleep. Of course he has, it's been a long, long day for him. Sleeps well into the night and doesn't wake until the alarm goes off. And even then he only groans and rolls over as if it could get him away from the noise.

Rufus had woken earlier than Reeve, but if he had gotten out of bed, he didn't stay out of it. When the alarm goes off, the alarm he had intended to shut off and forgot so as to wake Reeve more naturally, Reeve would find him shifting from reading to shut the alarm off. "Good morning. Apparently the tight quarters with two people in the bed didn't affect you."

"It's been a while, but I tend to enjoy that sort of situation," Reeve answered through a yawn. He does seem to wake up relatively easily. He's not complaining or making problems at least. "Did I disturb you?"

"Not at all." Rufus sets down the papers he is going through, and shifts so he can kiss Reeve, pulling back to grin. "In case we get stuck doing business things, thought I should do that."

Another kiss? Well that earned a smile, because it happened. The draw the man had toward kisses was just interesting. Perhaps the man had been starved of affection. Reeve wanted to fix that.

"Works for me," Reeve smiled before rolling out of the bed. "Would it be okay to have one of your Turks bring up my bag so I can change? Cleaner clothes."

Starved of attention? Just a little bit. President Shinra never saw much use in affection, much as he enjoyed sex. It was just another thing a person didn't need to him, but it had never stopped Rufus from seeking his father's attention when he was much younger...

But that didn't have much to do with the kissing.

Reaching over, Rufus hands Reeve his phone from the dresser. "Maybe you can get Reno and really confuse him."

"Oh now that sounds amusing."

He knows the number from his own use and punches it in, smiling the whole time. He had to know how Reno spoke to Rufus first thing.

Being Reno, it was always amusing to hear if he was even sober enough this early in the morning to be coherent; or, more accurately, if he was pretending to be drunk to get out of work and maybe sleep in.

This morning, not so much. This morning, he was "sober" and very inquisitive due to Reeve staying over... which meant he opened with "On a scale of 1 go 10, how far below me is Reeve?"

Really? Reeve just let silence linger for half a moment, how he would imagine Rufus first reacting to that question. Then...

"Well, Reno, I'd say that he's more experienced than you, with a tenderness that melts the heart," Reeve answered, clear amusement in his voice. "Could you go out to the car and fetch his bag? His clothes have all been torn apart over how ravenous he makes his partners."

Rufus raises a brow at what Reeve is saying, obviously curious what Reno had said, although he has some vague idea by what the older man is saying. He also knows Reno...

And it doesn't take long for the red-head to realize that it isn't Rufus on the phone, and make an annoyed sound. "Hey, now... no fair calling from the Boss's phone like this."

"Your boss told me to," Reeve laughed, shaking his head. "At least wait until I leave before you pry apart my skills with Rufus. Bring my clothes up please? Rufus really did tear my shirt off."

With that he hung up, chuckling to himself. He couldn't help it, it felt like the right thing to tease about.

"I don't recall tearing your shirt off..." Rufus laughs softly, and reaches to take his phone back. "Not entirely.

"But what did he ask?"

"He wants you to rate me compared to him in bed," Reeve answered, handing the phone back as he stretches and lays back down. "I imagine we'd be measured on different scales due to different approaches. It's not an equivalency you can compare."

Then he rolls on his side to smile at Rufus. "You would have."

"You think I've slept with him and so can compare?" He seems to find great amusement somehow in that thought, especially since Reno had more than once offered. "And are you saying i can tear it off next time?"

"He seems to think you've slept with him so you can compare," Reeve countered.

The other comment gets him more interested. "Should I bring an extra shirt?"

"He tried to get me into bed at the beginning, but gave up." He then grins at the obvious interest his words gained, and moves to straddle one of Reeve's legs. "Only if I have permission. A good shirt can cost a small fortune."

"Well if he failed, I believe that makes me, by default, better in bed than he is."

The man smiled to himself as he said this, and the smile only grew as Rufus shifted to sit astride one of his legs. Interesting position, and that smile that implied interest. Very nice.

"If you only rip off the buttons I can replace them. It's a skill I learned over the years."

"He wouldn't like to hear that." Rufus chuckles, and lightly brings his nails down any open skin on Reeve. "And you seem to like violence in your sex... Maybe that's why you could stay with Shinra so long."
